Jervis Bay’s light has a coastal softness that makes photographs feel luminous and warm without being overworked. In the late afternoon, the golden hour light filtering through the old-growth trees at The Woods Farm creates some of the most beautiful portrait conditions I encounter anywhere on the South Coast.
I work with this light rather than against it. During portraits, I follow the light and your comfort rather than a shot list, the results are always more natural and more beautiful for it.
A Day at The Woods Farm
Getting ready on or near the property sets the tone for the day. The ceremony, whether under the trees or in the paddock, is always one of my favourite parts, the natural setting creates an intimacy that formal venues struggle to match.
Portraits at The Woods Farm take us through the paddocks, into the forest edge, along the fencelines, wherever the light is doing something interesting and wherever you feel at ease. The reception in the red barn is warm, layered and full of the kind of real moments I love to document.
