The Homestead at Berry is a heritage property with history in its walls and a landscape around it that feels genuinely South Coast, open paddocks, mature trees, sweeping rural views and the kind of quietness that makes a wedding feel like it belongs to the day itself. It is a venue that draws couples who want something with soul, and it delivers.
Why The Homestead Photographs So Well
Heritage properties photograph in a way that modern venues struggle to match. The aged timber, the stone details, the character that comes from decades of use, all of it adds texture and depth to images that a purpose-built function room simply cannot offer.
At The Homestead Berry, this heritage character is surrounded by beautiful South Coast countryside, giving me the best of both worlds as a photographer, architectural interest and natural landscape, often within a few metres of each other.
My Approach at The Homestead
I am a documentary photographer. My job on your wedding day is to observe, not to direct. At The Homestead, that means I am present throughout the day, moving through the ceremony, the formalities and the reception without stopping things to create moments that did not organically occur.
During portrait time, I work with you and the property, the gardens, the paddocks, the views across the surrounding countryside, to create images that feel like they were found rather than arranged. Most couples tell me they forget I am there within the first hour. That is the goal.
Berry as a Wedding Destination
Berry is one of the South Coast’s most loved towns, a short drive south of Kiama and the Illawarra, and accessible from Sydney in under two hours. The town and its surrounding properties have developed a genuine reputation as a wedding destination, and for good reason. The combination of landscape, heritage and community is difficult to find anywhere closer to Sydney.
I photograph weddings throughout the Berry area regularly, including at Willow Farm, The Co-Op Gerringong and across the broader South Coast region.
