The combination of heritage architecture, formal gardens and open Southern Highlands countryside gives me a wide range of environments to work within at Ravensthorpe. The property’s scale means there is always somewhere new to explore during portrait time, and the variety in the final gallery reflects that.
My approach is documentary throughout, I am there to capture the day as it genuinely unfolds rather than construct a version of it for the camera. At Ravensthorpe, the setting is strong enough to carry the images on its own. My job is to place you authentically within it and stay out of the way.
The Southern Highlands Light
The Southern Highlands sits at altitude, and the light here has a quality that is noticeably different from coastal or Sydney light. Cooler, softer and with a crispness that suits both the landscape and the heritage aesthetic of properties like Ravensthorpe. I find it one of the most photogenic regions in NSW for this reason.
