Mali Brae Farm is one of those venues that feels like it was made for weddings. Nestled in the Southern Highlands near Robertson, the property combines a working farm with beautifully considered event spaces, timber barns, open paddocks, wildflower gardens and long views across the surrounding countryside. It is relaxed, unpretentious and genuinely beautiful, which is exactly why couples keep choosing it.
The Mali Brae Aesthetic
What makes Mali Brae special as a photography backdrop is the variety it offers within a single property. The rustic barn interior provides warm, rich tones for reception shots. The paddocks and garden areas give you wide open space for portraits. And the surrounding landscape, all rolling hills and eucalyptus, creates a distinctly Australian backdrop that feels nothing like a hired function room.
My documentary approach suits Mali Brae perfectly. The venue has a natural, relaxed energy and my photography reflects that, I follow what is happening rather than staging what I want to happen.
What a Full Day at Mali Brae Looks Like
Getting ready images often happen nearby or on site depending on your arrangements. Ceremony coverage at Mali Brae is one of my favourites, whether it is outside in the garden or in the barn, the light and textures always produce beautiful results.
After the ceremony, I use the portrait time to explore the property with you, into the paddocks, along the fence lines, wherever the light is doing something interesting. The sessions feel more like a walk together than a photoshoot, which is intentional.
Reception coverage in the barn is warm, layered and full of real moments, the speeches, the first dance, the moment your guests let go and the night really starts.

Mali Brae’s organic, countryside feel translates brilliantly onto 35mm film. The natural textures, the barn timber, the outdoor light, all of it sits beautifully on film.
